The Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE) conducts the Indian Certificate of Secondary Education (ICSE) at the end of Grade 10 and the Indian School Certificate (ISC) at the end of Grade 12.
This framework is known for its comprehensive curriculum, strong emphasis on English language proficiency, balance of sciences, humanities, and creative subjects, and a focus on application-based learning. FOUNDATIONAL STAGE (NURSERY – GRADE 2)
- Activity and play-based learning.
- Early literacy and numeracy skills through phonics, storytelling, and hands-on activities.
- Introduction to music, art, dance, and computer awareness.
- Focus on social skills, curiosity, and experiential learning.
PREPARATORY STAGE (GRADES 3 – 5)
- Core subjects: English, Hindi, Mathematics, Environmental Studies, Computer Studies, General Knowledge.
- Exposure to creative arts, sports, music, and life-skills programs.
- Project-based learning and introduction to structured assessments.
MIDDLE SCHOOL (GRADES 6 – 8)
- Core subjects: English, Second Language, Mathematics, Science (Physics, Chemistry, Biology), Social Studies (History, Civics, Geography), Computer Science.
- Art, Music, Physical Education, Clubs & Societies for overall growth.
- Projects, assignments, and practical activities build strong conceptual foundations
SECONDARY (GRADES 9 – 10: ICSE)
- Compulsory Subjects: English, Second Language, History & Civics, Geography, Environmental Education.
- Group II (any 2/3 subjects): Mathematics, Science (Physics, Chemistry, Biology), Commercial Studies, Economics, Computer Applications, Art.
- Group III (any 1 subject): Physical Education, Economic Applications, Performing Arts, Fashion Designing, etc.
- Equal weightage given to internal assessments (practicals/projects) and final examinations.
SENIOR SECONDARY (GRADES 11 – 12: ISC)
- Students select a stream according to their interests and career goals: Science Stream:
- English, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics/Biology, Computer Science/Biotechnology/PE.
- Commerce Stream: English, Accountancy, Business Studies, Economics, Mathematics/PE/Computer Applications.
- Humanities Stream: English, History, Political Science, Psychology, Sociology, Literature, Mass Media, Fine Arts
The ISC curriculum emphasizes research projects, presentations, practicals, and independent study, ensuring students are prepared for both Indian and international higher education pathways.
